(NCC)_____ A source close to the group confirmed to CNN that one-third of the platinum-selling rap group Migos, Takeoff, was shot and killed early Tuesday in Houston, Texas.He was 28.

Employees told police that a large group of people gathered at the front door area outside the building after the party and had an argument, which led to the shooting.According to Finner, the shooting occurred at a location with at least 40 people present.
Arrington stated, "Most of the people who were there fled the scene and did not stick around to give a statement."
Finner identified the deceased person as Migos rapper Kirshnik Khari Ball, also known as Takeoff.
According to Finner, "I got many calls from Houston and outside of Houston, and everyone spoke of what a great young man he is, how peaceful he is, and what a great artist (he is)," Takeoff was highly regarded and nonviolent, Finner later stated.
According to Finner, "I would not expect him to be involved" and "We have no reason to believe that he was involved in anything criminal at the time."
Sylvester Turner, mayor of Houston, stated that they have met with Takeoff's mother.

The hip-hop community reacts to Takeoff's death
The news of Takeoff's death was a blow to the hip-hop community, which was still coming to terms with the September shooting death of rapper PnB Rock.On Tuesday, celebrities paid tribute to Takeoff and expressed their condolences via social media.
When he learned the news, Gucci Mane, who recently collaborated with Takeoff on the song "Us vs. Them," wrote on Instagram, "This broke my heart."
"This is awful.The actress Keke Palmer wrote on Instagram, "From the tragedy of the death to the tragedy of there being a video of it online," referring to a video that appears to show the deceased rapper in the moments following his shooting.It's all tragic, and I sincerely apologize to his entire family and everyone he touched.Absolutely terrible.
On Twitter, rapper Ja Rule wrote, "this sh*t has to STOP... sending love to friends and family." He expressed his displeasure with the violent death of Takeoff.
On Twitter, the Atlanta Falcons also issued a statement.
The team stated in a tweet that "Takeoff's legacy lives on in Atlanta and across the world."
Takeoff, who was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, started performing as Migos in 2008 alongside Offset and his uncle, fellow rapper Quavo.The 2013 single "Versace" brought the trio fame.
With the release of their hit song "Bad and Boujee," which featured fellow recording artist Lil Uzi Vert, their success only grew in 2016.
The single quickly became a viral hit on the internet, spawning numerous memes based on the lyrics "rain drop, drop top."
